What will you be drinking at the beach?

Well, if the damn rain ever ends (seriously, this is NYC, NOT Seattle), we'll be heading to a nice spot of sand, rolling our good times cooler.

For drinks of choice, I like mango rum mixtures, boxes of quality white wine (not Franzia, folks) -- there is quality boxed white wine to be had out there (I personally like the Pinot Grigio Bandit), and of course there is always a quality brew (best sometimes to buy cheap in bulk since you'll be sunning all day -- perhaps if you can find PBR in a 12 pack -- The Husband always buys Schlitz cheaply).

There's nothing like kicking back with a good book (if you're still sober enough to read), sunning in the sun, and a fresh cold one in your hands.

BTW, keep those drinks looking like Kool Aid or juice boxes so you roll them out to your beach...

an important thing to remember is to always use way more rum than you think you need for beach bound punches. you will never regret it. and it will give you the strength to fight off a shark attack if necessary.

It's June Gloom in LA so no beach just yet but we did get an awesome Watermelon ale that we have been drinking by the pool.

a. the black box line of wines is fantastic--it equals four bottles for about $20, lasts a good while too. the sauvignon blanc is incredible, and there is nothing wrong with the pinot grigio either.

b. jen, if you are talking about the 21st amendment hell or high watermelon, i disagree. it smells like a jolly rancher, but tastes like turnip greens. however their brew free or die ipa may just be this year's best summer beer. hoppy enough to please, but a light body that won't weigh you down.

hey scotti:

i'm not as much of a beer connoisseur as you are but i've been enjoying the hell or high watermelon. if we find their other ones, i'm sure brendan will agree with you. though you probably know more about beer than heath and brendan combined, so really you're the expert.

while i definitely come down on the side against watermelon beer, let's not forget how tasty and refreshing fresh watermelon juice mixed with rum is while laying on the beach, sitting on your back deck, or really doing anything outside (except maybe driving)
